The Power of the Pause: Recognizing When to Unplug and Recharge
In the always-connected world we live in, where it seems that we should be productive 24/7/365, the constant overflow of information and stimuli can leave us feeling drained, stressed, and overwhelmed.
But how do we know when it is the right time to step away from the screens, put down the devices, turn off their notifications, and simply unplug?
The truth is, unplugging isn’t a luxury — it’s a necessity for maintaining our well-being.
PLANNING FOR DISCONNECTION: A COUNTERINTUITIVE APPROACH
The good news is that unplugging doesn’t have to be an all-or-nothing proposition. While the urge to unplug might strike in the heat of the moment, there’s immense value in planning for disconnection.
This might seem counterintuitive, especially on busy days. But I have learned that by carving out designated unplugged moments in our schedules, we clearly and committedly signal to ourselves (and others as well) the importance of taking a break. Think of it as a proactive approach to self-care, similar to scheduling some holistic practice, exercise, or training.
